Take a tour around some of the most beautiful homes and villages in the North East.

Stairway to haven

BIG and beautiful - that’s this luxurious property at Wynyard.

The owners moved into the house at Castlereagh six years ago after falling in love with the house’s design, style and space.

And being surrounded by gardens and with fantastic views across Wynyard golf course, the property’s location also proved an instant hit.

“The house was designed by North-east architect Bill Hopper and had been built by a local developer who lived in the house himself,” said the owner.

“The design was very minimalist - which is the kind of living we enjoy - plus it was in an amazing setting.

“It really is one of a kind and we loved it.”

The open plan ground floor features a reception hallway with solid maple flooring, a double height glazed apex to the front and a solid maple staircase.

A fabulous kitchen/breakfast room is a star feature of the ground floor and has great views of the surrounding gardens and golf course.

There’s also a dining room, study/TV room, laundry room, cloaks and wc.

Stairs take you to a galleried landing plus there’s a spectacular curved glass wall overlooking the golf course and gardens.

To make the most of the great views there is a first floor sitting room with huge windows and a state-of-the-art fireplace with fire bowl.

The master bedroom has a luxurious en suite bathroom with double Jacuzzi and dressing room.

There are four further bedrooms - two of which also have en suite facilities.

And within the property you’ll find fixtures and fittings by designer names such as Villeroy and Boch, Philippe Stark and Bang and Olufsen.

Outside, the house is surrounded by gardens and there are two garages.

“The house has so much natural light,” said the owner.

“The ground floor space flows so well, it’s a great place.

“But there’s also a floor-to-ceiling door that you can use to divide the ground floor space if you want to.

“It’s a great house for entertaining.”

The owners also love the house’s location.

“It’s beautiful here - it’s very tranquil.

“From the upstairs lounge you can look out across the entire golf course.

“The view at night time is spectacular - it’s a lovely room to relax in.

“And it’s nice at all times of the year as you can see the changing colours of the seasons.”

She added: “Wynyard is also a good location because it gives you easy access to lots of places.”

But with plans to downsize this individual home is now up for sale.

“The house is totally unique in every way,” she added, “and we will certainly miss the space.”

The house at Castlereagh, Wynyard is up for sale at £995,000. More details from Manners and Harrison, Billingham on 01642 555888.
