RETURNING a period home to its former glory is a tough, but satisfying task. For research chemist Dr Annette Rigby transforming derelict Prospect House into a beautiful family home was the challenge of a lifetime, but rewarding all the same.
Now Dr Rigby, who has two daughters – Rebecca, 16, and Victoria, 18 – is eager to find another project to get her teeth into and has put the stone-built property on the market. “We have lived in the property since the early 1990s,” explains Dr Rigby. “The location and views are outstanding. The fact that it was stone-built house also appealed. I know that it was built at the turn of the last century and that the people who had the house before lived in it for the best part of 40-50 years. “Even when it was derelict it had a nice feel to it.” The property required major work, as Dr Rigby explains: “It was almost a total renovation job when we moved in as it was a derelict building. We had to put in new windows, new plumbing, new electrics, a new kitchen, two new bathrooms and we extended out the back. |
