AFTER almost 20 years living in Northumberland, London-born businessman Andrew Deacon and his wife Caroline are now dreaming of a relaxed retirement sailing yachts on the Devon coast. The couple have two sons, Paul, 30, a marine engineer and Alistair, 25, who works for a TV company in London. They moved to the North East in 1991 for Andrew’s job in retail and chose to settle in Hexham.
Andrew eventually set up an events company, which he sold six months ago and now the couple are selling their four-bedroom detached home in Hexham to start a new life in the South West. "We chose Hexham because it had a lot of things going for it, and it still does," said Andrew. "The location is semi-rural so you have the best of both worlds as it’s just a mile from the centre of Hexham but still feels off the beaten track with lovely views." Andrew and Caroline, a physiotherapist, bought the property new from the builders who created a cul-de-sac development of just eight houses. The property has three reception rooms, which was ideal when their sons were growing up. It also has a conservatory, breakfasting kitchen, utility and cloakroom. |
