Taste of luxury at Redeford in Belford

RIDING along unspoilt coastline is a dream for many. But for the family who have lived in this beautiful former manse, which boasts a range of equestrian facilities, it’s a luxury that they have been lucky enough to regularly enjoy.

The Pawsons have lived in the period property, on the outskirts of the market town of Belford, Northumberland, for more than three decades.

But now their children have flown the nest it’s time for Anne and Robert, a retired GP, to move on from their family home.

Anne, 68, a retired nursing sister, explained: “Although Robert is from Yorkshire his father was the Archdeacon of Lindisfarne and he wanted to move back to the area.

“There was a vacancy in the local practice and we had to find a house very quickly. The outgoing partner lived in the house – it wasn’t on the market, we just bought it.”

The detached former manse dates to around 1870. The front door leads into the main hallway, giving access to all downstairs rooms. There are also stairs, with storage space beneath, leading to the first floor.

The sitting room has a traditional open fire with Italian marble surround and a dining room with a south- facing window gives views over the open countryside.

The family room also has a south-facing window and French doors leading out to the rear of the property.

From the kitchen there is access to the utility room and rear porch. The study/ bedroom five is also located on the ground floor as is a bathroom.

The first floor has views of the spectacular coastline and on this floor there are four bedrooms and a family bathroom.

The property has extensive gardens, a five-acre paddock, three stone-built stables and a barn. There is also a vegetable plot, greenhouse, double garage and a dog run with kennels.
